Please consider volunteering!

• Spring 2012 registration is now open; We will, as usual, keep registration open until divisions have filled.  The subsequent logistics (team formation, coach assignments) go much smoother if we have everyone registered on time.  Late registrations are very difficult to deal with, but we will try to accommodate everyone, because we know "stuff happens"--and we want to give every child the opportunity to play soccer.  For the spring 2012 season, we offer a $5.00 discount ($80.00 registration fee for all age groups) if you register before 2/15, after 2/29, there will be a $5.00 (total $90.00) late fee.

• You can create a member account (if you haven't already done so), and enter your child's information at any time.  Then you will be sure to receive notification when registration is open.

• Registration notes--please read!!

  • All registrations are made online, we accept payment via credit card only; for Spring 2011 and all subsequent season, we are not accepting payment by check. We regret any inconvenience this may cause, but we had too many people disregard their financial obligation to AYSL when we allowed deferred payment. 

  • Registration is online only.  High speed internet and free computer time is available at most libraries, including the Ashland Library.

  • Your registration is NOT COMPLETE and your child will NOT be assigned to a team until your financial obligation is met by one of the following:

    • Valid payment (online payment).

    • Requesting financial aid with subsequent board approval

      •  (download pdf or word format) and complete the application form

      • then mail the form and supporting documentation to AYSL PO Box 2152, Ashland VA 23005. 

      • You may also email the completed form to the league president or registrar (and mail the supporting documentation) to start the process.

    • Fall & Spring seasons--Coaching your child's team (your first child's registration fees will be refunded at the end of the season), you must pay online when you register your child.

      • To receive a coaching refund you must complete all of the following: 

        1. Volunteer to coach your child's team. 

        2. Be assigned to a team.

        3. Complete the mandatory KidSafe background check process.

      • NOTE: This applies to spring and fall soccer only.  We do not offer discounts for the Indoor sessions.

• When all else fails, contact the registrar (diane@edusoft-lc.com), to walk you through the process. 

General Registration Information

In the spirit of fairness, we do not make team assignments on a first come, first assigned basis.  We will make every attempt to ensure the teams are as balanced as possible with respect to skill levels.  Team rosters will have minimum and maximum number of players depending on age division.  The total number of teams per age division depends upon the number of coaches who are willing to volunteer their time.  As team limits are met, a waiting list will be established until additional coaches become available.  Children may be assigned to an older division based on size, skill level and maturity.

• Age Brackets for Indoor 2012

Old registration news; or why we changed providers twice in one year :-(

In fall 2004, AYSL made the move to online registration, we felt that online registration offers a significant benefit to our all-volunteer organization. For the most part, this has proven true.  We are able to alert parents via email of upcoming events, and paper-based registration is very cumbersome and expensive--in terms of time spent by volunteers handling paper and preparing mass mailings.  We started with Preenroll, but they folded in late 2007.  AYSL selected Count Me In as our second online registration provider in October 2007.  On 12/15/2008, AYSL received an email from CMI stating they had turned off credit card processing, because they no longer had funds to pay AYSL.  In other words, they took the funds due to AYSL, and used it for their own operating expenses. They did not pass the the credit card transaction payments on to AYSL.  AYSL is one of ~220 clubs across the country affected by this.   CMI has since been forced into bankruptcy.  To read about the situation click here.  AYSL had no other choice but to find another online registration provider.  In January 2009, we selected Bonzi Sports Software.

Bonzi's agreement requires that AYSL set up our own credit card merchant account, so the funds from your credit card transactions go directly into AYSL's account, and we will never have the issue of having another party handling our credit card transactions.
